On the long trips Cederberg 4x4 tries to select safe campsites where the ablution facilities are adequate and where possible there is a lodge that offers a pub and restuarant. At other times we look for new campsites that can be used en-route to a rendezvous or when just travelling through the country. As we travel so often, we will be adding to this page every now and again.

The Big Cave campsite is situated only 3 km off the main tarmac road, and is located in picturesque Miombo woodland. The campsite is 105 km's from the Plumtree border, and 370 km's from the Beitbridge border.
The campsite has a large ablution block with separate ladies and gents facilities, and a laundry area.
Each camp site is equipped with: its own power point (220 volt), a private braai area (fire wood which is included in the rate) as well as a strategically situated light. NEW - we have just installed a Wi-Fi hot spot in the campsite, plus back up generator for lighting if mains goes off!!

A shady campsite is set on green lawns under shady trees with ablution facilities and electrical points available.
The property is fenced and so safe for children during the day, but extreme caution should be exercised at night when hippos emerge from the lake to graze on the lawns.
The large swimming pool is available to all residents and visitors.
The Dome restaurant and pub is an attractive, thatched, open-air "watering hole" set within the lush gardens, looking out over the harbour. It offers DSTV, Wi-Fi facilities, a children's playground, a well-stocked bar and delicious, simple, fresh-cooked meals.

On the bank of the Zambizi this camp is well worth the visit although it is expensive. They have recently upgraded the ablution blocks so that is quite a bonus as they are now very good. Elephants, hyenas, etc roam through the camp.
