A LONG WEEKEND WITH “ARNO EN VRIENDE”
AT BUSHMAN’S CAVE IN THE CEDERBERG

21 – 24 SEPTEMBER 2018

YOU ARE INVITED TO EXPERIENCE FIRST-HAND ALL THE REASONS WHY BUSHMAN’S CAVE BERGTEATER IS SUCH A POPULAR VENUE IN THE CEDERBERG. GREAT CAMPING, WELL PLANNED 4X4 TRAILS AND AMAZING SHOWS PLUS DINNER.

Activities

This is a weekend filled with activities that made Bushman’s Cave Bergteater the popular venue it is today. Every year a weekend is dedicated to “ARNO EN VRIENDE”. Arno van Zyl is a legend from Namakwaland, a story teller of note and frequently appeared on TV programs like “Maak n Las”. It is on evenings like this that well-known and upcoming artists are invited to perform and entertain guests while a scrumptious dinner is served. Evenings like these, combined with excellent camping options and a well-planned 4x4 trail with escape options after each section ensure that people return time after time.

General

Bushman’s Cave is situated on the farm OUDE MUUR in the Northern Cederberg approximately 45km from Clanwilliam. Visitors have two route options to drive to the farm. First option is via the Nardousberg Pass with  panoramic views of the first section of the Bulshoek Dam, a privately owned island as well as beautiful rock formations that increase with beauty the closer you get to OUDE MUUR. This option will require you to drive approximately 32km of gravel road. The second option is to drive via Pakhuis Pass which is home to C. L. Leypoldt’s grave, a well-known poet of yesteryear, and the natural sandstone “Soldaatkop” landmark. This option will require you to drive approximately 15km of gravel road. You are not required to own a 4x4 vehicle to get to the farm OUDE MUUR. Both route options can be completed in a normal vehicle.

The highlight of the weekend by far will be the Saturday evening entertainment at the Bushman’s Cave Bergteater where Arno van Zyl and his friends, Richard van der Westhuizen, Lochner de Kock & Andrew Roos, will entertain us with good music and lots of laughter, rounded off by an enjoyable dinner. Allow yourself enough daylight time on your arrival at Bushman’s Cave Bergteater for the opportunity to explore the uniqueness that makes this venue so special. Having enjoyed a beautiful sunset, the many spotlights will silhouette interesting shadows against the natural sandstone rock formations, testing your imagination to the limit seeking those mind-bending images. This evening will definitely be one of the highlights of the weekend.

Owners of 4x4 vehicles will enjoy the benefit of driving one or all three sections of the Bushman’s Cave 4x4 trails as many times as they wish during the weekend or in the dry riverbed of the Brandewyn River, where interesting obstacles await participants.  The well designed trail consists of two challenging mountain sections, with viewpoints overlooking the Roggeveld and Hantam Mountains in the far distance, as well as an interesting sand sections where driver skills, correct tyre pressure and momentum will be the order of the day.  Vehicles with low range will be able to drive all three sections of the Bushman’s Cave 4x4 Trail, while the 4x4 vehicles without low range will be limited to the dry riverbed of the Brandewyn River. The 4x4 activities will definitely satisfy the needs of any 4x4 enthusiast, irrespective of whether your vehicle is equipped with or without low range.
