LEEUWENBOSCHFONTEIN 4x4 - near De Doorns and Montaque
ENJOY LUNCH IN A 360° GLASS WEATHER PROTECTED LAPA
OVERLOOKING THE AMAIZING MOUNTAINS OF THE KAROO
09 to 11 FEBRUARY 2018
THE PERFECT GETAWAY FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY INTO THE HEART OF THE KAROO
The Farm Leeuwenboschfontein is situated in the Karoo between De Doorns and Montague, a mere two hours’ drive from Cape Town. The farm is set in a valley against the background of the beautiful Karoo with its unique landscape and breath taking mountain formations. It is also home to one of the popular 4x4 weekend destinations in the Western Cape. It is an ideal getaway any time of the year.
Leeuwenboschfontein also offers visitors the option of making use of the various chalets when visiting the farm. This accommodation option offers modern amenities throughout and is still within close proximity to the camp where all the weekend social activities will take place. See the cost below and enquire about the availability when booking.
The Leeuwenboschfontein 4x4 trail is a challenging circular trail laid out for the adventurous at heart, with numerous interesting obstacles and challenges, starting from the main farmhouse. The trail to the viewpoint traverses many obstacles where your driving skills will be tested. Tyre pressure is important for maximum traction, but more info on this will be shared by the guide before departuring on the trail.
Having enjoyed a light snack at the viewpoint with a 360° bird’s eye view of the unique mountain ranges, distinct landmarks in the distance, active farming communities and the Leeuwenboschfontein manor house, chalets and camp below, we will start the descent. On the descent we will encounter various interesting technical obstacles where the driving skills of participants will once again be tested. There are two interesting sections on the descent, where guiding is required, this will get the adrenalin flowing just that little faster. There are technical, cross-axle sections with steep descents, where choosing the correct line is very important. Here we ensure that adrenalin levels will definitely go up a notch or two.
A well-planned trail, with the owner doing continuous maintenance, ensures good driving conditions and minimal erosion on the trail. The option of an obstacle course awaits those participants who need that extra adrenalin rush on the Sunday morning. Here you can play to your heart’s content and test your own driving skills by playing with many different lines and gear selection options. The trail distance is approximately 18 km and time required to complete the trail is about 5 hours.
