29MHz TWO WAY RADIOS

Communication between participating vehicles on any 4x4 excursion is important for many reasons. It ensures the safety of drivers, passengers and vehicles while on a 4x4 trail, where drivers can communicate with one another as regards to their location and situation, not to mention the interesting information that is shared with participants.  The fun part is the many interesting stories that are shared among participants.

We suggest all 4x4 vehicles that don’t have a 29MHz two-way radio, HIRE one from us at a nominal fee of R200-00 for this excursion.

Should you be hiring a 29MHz radio, please ensure that your lighter socket is working.  If you intend running more than one item from the lighter socket, ensure to have a double adapter handy as well as spare fuses for this excursion.

NB:  If your vehicle is fitted with a 29MHz radio, please make sure that channels 1, 14 and 23 are open and working for this excursion.

Should you wish to make a once-off investment and purchase a 29MHz radio, we have negotiated a special deal for all Cederberg 4x4 participants.  For more information, contact Marina on 021 913 4632.

WABOOMSRUST 4X4

A NEW 4X4 TRAIL IN THE WESTERN CAPE WITH GREAT VIEWS AND CHALLENGING SECTIONS

29 JANUARY 2017

SITUATED CLOSE TO CAPE TOWN MAKING IT AN AFFORDABLE DESTINATION

The Waboomsrust 4x4 trail is situated in the Du Toitskloof Pass in close proximity to the Du Toitskloof Resort between Paarl and Worcester, only 90km from Cape Town. It offers views over the popular Du Toitskloof Resort and trout farm, where enthusiasts young and old can try their hand at catching the elusive big one. The fishing works on a catch and release basis, but a photo will ensure the proof when boosting to your friends about the big one you landed.

The trail that was closed many years ago and has now been re-opened by new owners/operators to be enjoyed by the 4x4 fraternity in the Western Cape. This trail is sure to become a regular destination visited by many 4x4 enthusiasts as it is close to Cape Town, making it an affordable day excursion. The 4x4 trail starts with an obstacle course where driving skills will be tested, good ground clearance, good articulation and skilful guiding required. The obstacle course lends itself to excellent photo opportunities and user- friendly for passengers and other drivers to see what vehicles are capable of when negotiating the course.  The circular 4x4 trail is a combination of loose sand and mountain tracks with escapes at the more difficult obstacles. These escape routes give you the option of by-passing the more difficult sections, ensuring you do not damage your vehicle and keep you within your comfort zone. En-route beautiful views over the valley will form part of a perfect picture between the activities, nature, pristine fynbos with beautiful views over the Du Toitskloof Resort and the trout farm  below. Upon completing the trail you can either enjoy a picnic lunch or braai inside the lapa where the Cederberg 4x4 formalities will take place. After lunch you may consider trying your hand at trout fishing at the Du Toitskloof Resort Trout Farm. This is always a great fun-filled family activity.
