WINDHOEK 4X4

A WELL DESIGNED SAND TRAIL REQUIRING DRIVER ATTENTION FROM START TO FINISH,

 WITH MANY PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES

23 to 24 MAY 2020

SOMETHING DIFFERENT, SOMETHING NEW

The Windhoek 4x4 trail is situated on a farm with the same name at the intersection of the R27 (West Coast Road) and the R315 (Link road between Yzerfontein and Darling). The farm is also home to the first four wind turbines in the Western Cape erected many years ago. During our visit you will have the opportunity to visit these wind turbines up close and experience their uniqueness and size. This is something very special for the whole family to experience.

The Windhoek farm is also home to a sand mine. The sand mined is used for building in the area.

The trail was developed to facilitate two 4x4 events per year to generate funds for the old age home and a local church. Thereafter the owner, Paul Smit developed a 4x4 training track which is currently used by Cederberg 4x4. The track crisscrosses through two quarries, part of the 4x4 training track, and numerous other obstacles that are included in the route. There will be sufficient obstacles to test your driving skills, with escape options at more difficult places.

The farm also offers a campsite with basic ablutions and an enclosed lapa to use on the day. Upon completion of the 4x4 trail a communal braai will be enjoyed at the lapa. In conclusion this is a well thought through and developed 4x4 trail offering something for all levels of experience. It is not a vehicle breaker, so louds of fun can be enjoyed by all. There will be many photo opportunities for passengers to take all those special pictures capturing those priceless moments.

29MHz TWO WAY RADIOS

Communication between participating vehicles on any 4x4 excursion is important for many reasons.  It ensures the safety of drivers, passengers and vehicles while on a 4x4 trail, where drivers can communicate with one another as regards to their location and situation, not to mention the interesting information that is shared with participants.  The fun part is the many interesting stories that are shared among participants.

We suggest all 4x4 vehicles that don’t have a 29MHz two-way radio, HIRE one from us at a nominal fee of R200-00 for this excursion.

Should you be hiring a 29MHz radio, please ensure that your lighter socket is working.  If you intend running more than one item from the lighter socket, ensure to have a double adapter handy as well as spare fuse for this excursion.

NB:  If your vehicle is fitted with a 29MHz radio, please make sure that channels 1, 14 and 23 are open and working for this excursion.

Should you wish to make a once off investment and purchase a 29MHz radio, we have negotiated a special deal for all Cederberg 4x4 participants.  For more information, contact Marina on 021 910 1363.
