BAVIAANSKLOOF ADVENTURE
WITH AN INTERESTING TWIST
17 to 23 DECEMBER
SPOIL YOURSELF ON A PRE-CHRISTMAS BREAK AFTER A LONG YEAR IN THE SADDLE
This Baviaanskloof adventure starts shortly after the builder’s holiday commences in December. This gives you enough time to prepare for the trip and pack for your adventure through the Baviaanskloof and the twist. The big advantage of this trip is that you will be back in time to spend Christmas and New Year with family and friends at home. Alternatively, you may choose to continue with the trip and visit other beautiful places along the garden route, at leisure.
This pre-Christmas Baviaanskloof overlanding trip with a twist will start with the rendezvous at Infanta 4x4 in Buffeljagsrivier. An interesting venue to say the least. The first night’s camp is at Rietkuil, only 12km away. No card facilities. The camp offers good amenities and ablutions. An excellent one-night stop enroute to our next camp. Departing from Rietkuil we will head for Bonniedale Holiday Farm situated in the Outeniqua Mountains between Mossel Bay and Oudtshoorn, surrounded by the Attakwaskloof Nature Reserve, via as many gravel roads as possible. A perfect getaway for the whole family. Apart from the amazing 4x4 trails there are many other activities, such as horse riding, fishing in the dam, paddle boats or canoeing on the dam, horse riding, enjoying the ever-popular Flying Fox “Foefie” slide, mountain biking or a hike to one or more of the many mountain streams with crystal clear, natural, rock pools which are ideal for swimming. No card facilities.
Departing from Bonniedale Holiday Farm we will head for Oudtshoorn where replenishment of food and fuel can be done before heading for Doringkloof Bush Camp at the start of the Baviaanskloof. Here we wil set camp for two nights. This grassed shaded campsite overlooks a dam and offers many optional activities including four 4x4 trails with various grades of difficulty and a swimming pool to cool off in. Card facilities are available.
Departing from Doringkloof Bush Camp we will drive through the Baviaanskloof enjoying the amazing scenery, rock formations and views over the valleys and mountains. Numerous stops will be made enroute at points of interest, like the Baviaanskloof cableway, to mention only one. Kudu Kaya is our last stop in the Baviaanskloof. This is an active working citrus farm and a must-stop on any visit to the Baviaanskloof. All the venues we will be visiting are ideal destinations to bring your mountain bike to explore the area.
The trip officially ends at Kudu Kaya from where you have various route options home or continue further with your trip to other destinations of your choice along the garden route. You might even consider spending more time at Kudu Kaya. Spoil yourself and the family by inviting friends to join you on this well-deserved pre-Christmas and New Year trip

Communication between participating vehicles on any 4x4 excursion is important for many reasons. It ensures the safety of drivers, passengers and vehicles while on a 4x4 trail, where the GUIDE and drivers can communicate with one another as regards to their location and situation, not to mention the interesting information that is shared with participants. The fun part is the many interesting stories that are shared among participants taking the boredom out of the long distances we need to travel to enjoy the great outdoors.
We suggest all 4x4 vehicles that don’t have a 29MHz two-way radio, HIRE one from us at a nominal fee of R400.00 for this excursion.
