A UNIQUE CAMP ON TOP OF THE PIKETBERG MOUNTAINS

 

Cederberg 4x4 is once again inviting all interested ladies on an All-Exclusive Ladies Trip to a new venue on top of the Piketberg Mountains. A unique hide-away from the everyday hustle and bustle. Invite your lady friends to a four-day getaway surrounded by like-mined ladies. The four days will be filled with interesting activities like testing your skills at archery, game viewing drives in your own vehicles, negotiating off-the-beaten-track gravel roads to driving the ever-popular ‘The Dunes’ 4x4 trail in Lambert’s Bay. No visit to Lambert’s Bay will be complete without a visit to the harbour and the well-known Isabellas Restaurant. Here participants will have the option of either enjoying something to eat or alternatively take a walk to Bird Island where an amazing scene of tens of thousands of Cape Gannets awaits visitors before we return to our camp. 

The first All Exclusive Cederberg 4x4 Ladies trip took place in August 1998 with a small group of ladies to the Cederberg and setting camp at Monkey Plum, Cederberg 4x4’s own camp on the farm Matjiesrivier. Little did we realize that 27yrs later we will still be facilitating these popular trips. With the high cost of fuel, it is important to keep the trips as close as possible to Cape Town. Thus the reason for setting base camp at Kruisementvlei, a working herb production farm on top of the Piketberg mountain.

Departing from the rendezvous we will head for Thali Thali Game Lodge where a game drive will be enjoyed in our own vehicles. The lodge boast a wide range of game, like cape buffalo, water buffalo, kudu, oryx, giraffe, blue wildebeest, eland, zebra, sable antelope, red hartebeest, springbok, duiker, bontebok, steenbok, ostrich, dromedary camel and emu. The archery session will be done under the watchful eye of an accredited coach and is suitable for newbies and experienced people. This will be a great team building event and great start to the getaway. Enroute to our camp on top of the Piketberg mountains we will follow as many gravel roads as possible and drive through the small settlement of Goedverwacht before negotiating a very scenic mountain pass. The following day will take us to Lambert’s Bay where the ever popular ‘The Dunes’ 4x4 trail will be driven. On this day participants will have the option of visiting Bird Island or enjoy something to eat at Isabellas restaurant in the harbour before returning to camp. On Saturday we will head up the old gravel road to the top of Piekenierskloof Pass to Kardoesie Farm Stall. Here a challenging 4x4 trail awaits us that is not open to the public. Great fun will be enjoyed by al,l followed by a visit to the farm stall for something to eat or drink before returning to camp.

All information supplied in the agenda are given in good faith by Cederberg 4x4 and compiled from the latest information available at the time.  The activity times, as indicated on the agenda, are subject to change without notice and at the sole discretion of the guide.

Vehicles: Only vehicles WITH LOW RANGE capabilities can be accommodated.

THURSDAY 2 OCTOBER 2025

08h30 - Rendezvous at ENGEN 1-STOP on the R27 at the Langebaan intersection.
 - Arrive early and enjoy something to eat.
 - Briefing on day’s activities and convoy driving.
  - Depart in convoy for Thali-Thali Game Lodge.
   - Partake in a game drive in your own vehicles.
   - Archery team competition. Great team building activity.
   - Follow off-the-beaten-track gravel roads and the Goedverwacht settlement and Rooidraai and set camp for three nights on Kruisementvlei Farm at Piket Bo Berg. Top of Piketberg mountains.
  - Dinner will be prepared and served at the camp.
   - Team Introductions.

FRIDAY 3 OCTOBER 2025

 - Enjoy a self-catered breakfast.
08h00 - Depart for The Dunes 4x4 trail in Lambert’s Bay.
 - Arrive, deflate tyres, followed by a short briefing.
 - Enjoy the challenges, laughter and thrills The Dunes 4x4 trail has to offer.
 - Visit the well-known seafood restaurant “Isabella’s” in the harbour. Here all will have time to either enjoy a seafood lunch at Isabella’s or visit Bird Eiland. Alternatively, simply explore the town.
 - Depart as a group back to our camp at Kruisementvlei.
 - Communal self-catered braai/dinner.

SATURDAY 4 OCTOBER 2025

 - Enjoy a self-catered breakfast at the camp.
09h00 – Drive up “The Old Piekenierskloof Pass” to Kardoesie Farm Stall, top of Piekenierskloof Pass. Here a challenging circular 4x4 trail on private property, not open the public, will be driven. Enough
time will be available for the group to enjoy something from the restaurant at Kardoesie.
 - Depart as a group back to our camp at Kruisementvlei.
 - Cederberg 4x4 lucky draw will take place with a new camp captain to be announced.
 - Communal self-catered braai/dinner with Lucky draw.
 
SUNDAY 5 OCTOBER 2025

 - Enjoy a self-catered breakfast at the camp.
  - Depart at your own time but not later than 10h30.
  - Enjoy a safe trip home.

TEAM SPIRIT/INTRO

• Each team must have a TEAM NAME, which must be displayed on your vehicle.
• A TEAM consists of participants in ONE vehicle. Maximum of 4 x ladies per vehicle.
• The team introduction, by means of singing, dancing, clothing, will take place on Thursday evening.
• This team introduction is great fun and ensures lots of laughter.
• Great prizes up for grabs.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

This “Exclusive Ladies 4x4 Getaway” is offered as a guided excursion, lead by a seasoned guide sharing en-route advice, hints and tips. Drivers of all levels of experience are welcome.  Peace of mind can be enjoyed by all on this excursion regarding the safety of vehicles, drivers and passengers.

CATERING

• Cederberg 4x4 will supply a dinner the Thursday evening.
• You will be required to be self-sufficient for all other meals.

ACCOMMODATION


• This excursion is offered as a camping trip; everyone must be equipped accordingly.
• Off Road trailers can be accommodated on this trip.

GENERAL

• Please remember that no alcohol may be consumed by either the driver or passenger(s) whilst driving a 4x4 trail. Please respect your guides and your fellow participants and save the alcoholic beverages until we return to base camp. There are exceptions which will be discussed.
• Maximum of 4 x ladies per vehicle.
• WATER - is available at the camp.
• DRINKING WATER - Always advisable to bring own drinking water on excursions.
• WOOD – Wood can be purchased at the farm.
• ICE – Bring your own ice. Ice can be replenished on Friday and Saturday.
• ELECTRICITY – The camp has two power points. Bring long extension leads should you need electricity.
• The communal braai area will be determined upon our arrival. (Only one fire permitted)
• Portable braais are welcome in the communal braai area.
• Remember eating utensils, table and chairs.
• The days could be warm and the night’s cold.  Pack clothing accordingly.
• Advisable to have a broad rim hat and sun block on hand.
• Always advisable to wear comfortable closed boots or shoes.
• It is advisable to always have an umbrella or awning available when on the trail.
• Use tie-down straps to secure all items packed, as loose items can become missiles.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS

• All vehicles and Off-road trailers must be in sound mechanical condition.
• Always have your spare keys with you.
• Recovery points fitted to the front and rear on your vehicle are a prerequisite.
• Your own Kinetic/recovery strap and 2 x shackles will be advisable.
• A tyre pump and tyre pressure gauge will be required to deflate/inflate tyres. Pack where accessible.  
• Carry a fire extinguisher that is easily accessible in the event of an emergency.   
• Always carry your personal medical kit. Pack where accessible.
• All other recovery equipment will be supplied.

FUEL STOPS EN-ROUTE

Sufficient fuel stops will be made en-route, eliminating the necessity of carrying additional fuel. Ensure your vehicle is refuelled prior to the briefing at the rendezvous.

29 MHz RADIOS

Communication between participating vehicles on any 4x4 excursion is important for many reasons.  It ensures the safety of drivers, passengers and vehicles while on a 4x4 trail, where drivers can communicate with one another as regards to their location and situation, not to mention the interesting information that is shared with participants.  The fun part is the many interesting stories that are shared among participants. 

We suggest all 4x4 vehicles that don’t have a 29MHz two-way radio HIRE one from us at a nominal fee of R400-00 for this excursion.

NB: Should you be hiring a 29MHz radio, please ensure that your lighter socket is working.  If you intend running more than one item from the lighter socket, be sure to have a double adapter handy as well as spare fuse for this excursion.     
    
NB:  If your vehicle is fitted with a 29MHz radio, please make sure that channels 1, 14 and 23 are open and working for this excursion.

COST

R1950-00 per lady.

R400-00 Radio hire should your vehicle not be fitted with a 29MHz two-way radio.

BOOKING AND PAYMENT CONDITIONS

Should you wish to join us on this trip, contact Coenie via return mail to obtain a booking form.

• Cederberg 4x4 can only accommodate a maximum of 12 vehicles or 40 ladies on this trip. 
• All bookings work on a first-come-first-serve basis.
• Cederberg 4x4 will only confirm your booking upon receipt of your completed and signed booking form together with your POP (proof of payment) of a 10% deposit of R200-00.
• Cederberg 4x4 requires your POP (proof of payment) for the total outstanding amount for the trip and two-way radio hire if applicable on or before Monday 15 September 2025.
• Contact the Cederberg 4x4 for alternative payment arrangements.
• Your completed and signed booking form binds you to all conditions on page one and two.
• Should you wish to cancel or withdraw from the trip after Cederberg 4x4 received your completed and signed booking form and POP, you will be required to find a replacement to take your place before any refund or credit will be considered
• Should you not arrive at the rendezvous or choose to leave the trip before it officially ends, you will not be entitled to any refund or credit.
